CBS Gives Take advantage of Schneiders Family Comedy Midseason Series Order

Take advantage of Schneider is formally coming back to primetime. CBS has handed a midseason series order to Schneider’s untitled family comedy. I hear the pickup is perfect for eight episodes. Although it was monitoring well, the pilot didn’t result in the cut for any fall series order in the upfronts, but CBS loved it enough to order a refurbished second pilot that incorporated major casting changes in addition to several backup scripts. The multi-camera comedyThat Schneider co-authored with Lew Morton in line with the stars real-existence encounters, stars Schneider as Take advantage of, a confirmed bachelor that has just married right into a tight-knit Mexican-American family. The spanish language actress Claudia Bassols plays his wife, Maggie. Diana Maria Riva plays his mother-in-law, Rosa. Both roles were recast in the pilot, as was the role of Schneider’s father-in-law, now performed by Cheech Marin. Remaining in the original cast are Schneider, Eugenio Derbez because the wifes uncle and Lupe Ontiveros as her grandmother. Schneider and Morton are executive creating with Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, while Schneider’s brother/creating partner John Schneider works as a non-writing producer. This marks Schneiders first TV series gig in 14 years. He last did a set within the 1996-97 season, NBCs comedy Males Acting Badly. Schneider has since concentrated on features, frequently working together with friend Adam Sandler, most lately co-starring together in Grownups. Using the series pickup, the Take advantage of Schneider comedy joins cop drama The Two-2 as CBS’ backup copies for midseason.
